Why register on a trading forum?

There are numerous trading forums. A lot of individuals register on them. Why are these forums so popular with individuals? What is the point of registering on a trading forum?

Trading forums, the financial markets’ bible

A lot of novice traders register on trading forums to find answers to their questions. Although there is a lot of free content on the net, there are sometimes grey areas when learning to trade. An incomplete information sheet, the urge to get a quick answer, wanting to be sure that you have understood something are all reasons that lead individuals to ask questions on trading forums.

Some people are afraid to ask questions, afraid of being ridiculed or of being seen as ignorant. Be aware that there are no stupid questions. It is only natural to have numerous questions when you start trading.

There are site administrators and benevolent forum members to answer these questions. These are often more experienced members who have gone through the same steps as you, but now have more experience in trading. These people are here to help you, so respect them. All too often I see newly registered members asking a question without saying hello, taking offence when they are told something, not saying thank you for the answer given, etc. This behaviour is simply unacceptable! If you ask someone for help, the least you can do is be polite. If this is not part of your education, you are not welcome on trading forums!

Trading forums, a tremendous shortcut to experience

On trading forums, novices rub shoulders with more experienced traders, who were also novices at one time, and some of them are there to share their experience. All the questions you ask yourself, all the phases you go through during your trading training, they have experienced them too.

Trading forums are therefore a great way to share experience. They accelerate all those who want to listen to trading advice towards successful trading with trader tips, refined by the longest serving members of trading forums. Novice traders can also sometimes give valuable advice to their counterparts, being or having been in the same situation as them recently.

You should listen to all these trading tips, and above all integrate them into your trading. The advice given at the beginning is often advice to avoid trading errors, to prevent you from razing your trading account in just a few days.

Unfortunately, all too often, these tips are rarely, if ever, listened to. So swallow your ego, your pride and find out how to take what people on the trading forums want to give you. Whatever the field, an experienced person always has a lot to teach you. Forums are a shortcut to experience, it's up to you to use them or not.

Trading forum, a way to improve your trading

Trading forums bring together all types of traders using different trading strategies. Among these traders, you will inevitably find traders with a similar trading strategy to yours. Forums therefore allow you to contact these traders and ask them questions. This is a great way to give you some ideas to improve your trading strategy. They could enable you to fine-tune the settings of your technical indicators or improve risk management, etc.

If you do not have a trading strategy, forums are also a good way to help you find one. Most traders use roughly the same trading tools in their trading strategy, namely chart patterns and the main technical indicators. Focusing on these elements is therefore a good way for you to find a trading strategy more quickly. I am not saying that you should copy these strategies, but take the basics to build your own trading strategy. On most trading forums, members present their trading strategies or clearly show the elements they need to open a position in the market. All this is open access.

Very often, novice traders look for a martingale or miracle indicators. Stop believing in Santa Claus. There is a reason that all experienced traders end up using more or less the same trading tools. Keep it simple with your trading, this is the best advice I can give you.

Trading forum for getting other traders’ advice

If you want to get feedback from other traders on your trading strategy, on an element of your trading, on a technical indicator, on a trading service, etc., forums are a great way to find out what other traders think. This can prevent you from falling into certain traps or help you to weigh up the pros and cons of an aspect. An external opinion is always good to receive, it enables you to reach an objective judgement on what you are doing.

Trading forums also help you to experience other traders’ market positions. Are you the only one to sell/buy this or that asset? What do others do? What is their vision of the market? All this enables you to complete your market analysis. In some cases, this may enable you to see technical or fundamental elements that you had not identified, or simply give you ideas for trades. Of course, you shouldn't blindly copy a trader. Social trading involves a lot of risks. You should only copy a Trade if your trading strategy allows you to open a position.

Trading forums, a community of traders

Sitting in front of your trading screens you often feel very lonely. This is one of the paradoxes of trading. Trading forums are an excellent way to overcome this loneliness. Effectively, all over the world, there are traders, like you, who are just begging to share their trading, to meet other traders. This makes your trading session more enjoyable, keeping in touch with other traders who understand you.

It is sometimes complicated to talk to people about trading. People who don’t trade don’t understand what you may feel during a trading session. Only another trader can understand you.

On trading forums people talk a lot about trading, but you can also meet nice people to discuss other things, take a break from your day, relax, etc.

Each forum has its own community of traders who, because they communicate with each other so much, get to know each other well. It's a little like having co-workers. So even if the Internet is something abstract, keep in mind that behind each nickname on a trading forum, there is a human being.
